QUINEBAUG MIDDLE COLLEGE- Graduation Requirements

Requirements for graduation will be consistent with Connecticut mandates and starting with the class of 2016, will include 25 credits to be acquired between the local high school (9th grade) and the 10th, 11th and 12th grades at QMC Magnet High School. Each course offered will incorporate objectives designed to enhance multicultural awareness and cultural competence. The recommended curriculum will include:
 
Mathematics: no fewer than 4 credits
Sciences: no fewer than 3 credits
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Elective: 1 credit
English: no fewer than 4 credits
Social Studies and Fine Arts: no fewer than 4 credits
Humanities Elective: 1 credit
Career and Life Skills: no less than 3.5 credits
Open Electives: no less than 1.5 credits
World Language: no less than 2 credits
Community Service Learning: 1 credit
 
Students must also achieve a rating of  “Proficient” on at least one formal, summative assessment in each Academic Performance Expectations:
  • Effective Writing
  • Active Reading
  • Effective Communication
  • Problem-Solving
  • Independent Project Development (Senior Capstone Experience)
 
Lastly, upon graduation, all students must exhibit:
  • Effective collaboration
  • Personal responsibility
  • Social and civic competencies
